Get into it.

Photo credit Jenny Frazier, taken at our reception in Marina Bay.

This is our friend Danielle, aka Dink. She's kind of a big deal.

If you're reading this, you probably already know... But tomorrow there will be a benefit show in her honor. She has been battling lupus for the past 12-odd years, and this last one has been a doozy. Countless ER visits, hospital stays, surgeries, cancer mis-diagnoses... and not enough answers. The benefit is to help offset the costs of all this mess, and maybe lift some spirits at the same time. It's called Dinkstock. Get into it.

Click for more info.

I should also mention that Dink is the reason Tony and I met. So she's a legend around these parts.

Love you Dinkster!

Progress. Yes, have some.

Because the bulk of the work that needs to be done takes place on Sundays, the 1 day a week that Nick and Paul have off from work... And by the way, how awesome are they? The awesomestest... Progress has been a bit slow around the Cawlamone home lately. I suppose the egg is on my face for thinking that a complete re-do of walls and ceilings and floors and stairways would take just a few short weeks. Or "two weeks," as they say in The Money Pit. Great movie.

- "What has he got that I haven't got?"
- "Walls."

HA! ...Sigh.

But this past Sunday was a big one. Tony and I had to attend a family get-together in Townsend, so we were MIA for most of the day. We came home to find brand, spanking, shiny, new (and LEVEL, most importantly) subfloors in the entire upstairs! We were shocked, I tell you. Nick's response to our gratitude for such speed and efficiency? "You know how we work." Yes we do, my friend.

Floors are a nice thing to have. To walk on and put stuff on. You don't know what you're missing until their gone and your cat gets stuck on one of the beams and you have to crawl out there on your hand and knees to get him, praying to Jebus that you don't fall through. Twice that happened.

I love floor.

In other news, while we continue to throw money into the black hole that is our house, we decided to make another necessary new purchase. A car.

I think it was Peach Street in Braintree that finally drove the point home. December 20, 2008, on the way to our niece Julia's birthday party. We got stuck about half way down, spinning our dainty little wheels in the snow, so bad that we had to turn around and go clear around town to finally get there.
Introducing, the newest member of the family:

Oh hai pretty.
2008 Nissan Xterra S. The S stands for swoon. Not really. But yes really.
We're both super happy and excited about it. Although I'm probably moreso, seeing as I get to drive it to work every day. Lucky me!
Once I get the Sirius hooked up, all will be right with the world.
